the gem

carefully responds “well said” when you insult him. makes faces when you tell him about your mother’s death and spits on the floor you polished. says he has read the books stolen from you and predicts the death of your dog after it’s long battle with cancer. boasts that he intercedes for you and never stops interceding for you and will never stop interceding for you so they don’t give you a double shift. and writes a memo where he accuses you of wasting time organizing fraudulent “campaigns of excess.” invites you to coffee to clear up that he confused the z of your name and accused the wrong person. swears that he will make amends for his mistake that justice will be served that he wants to kill himself. a bit later bursts into laughter between your pauses describing your face after his “spontaneous” joke. asks for more time. and doesn’t stop talking about the distinct conceptions of time. and of being named hernán soruco cardemil
