UNDER THE EARTH

We are that colored animal
that lives in the depths of the earth
feeding on its own essence
and singing to ascend to meet the sun.

We are the very same snail of time
upon which hang the first lichens
of the most ancient grandfathers
that made life on this earth possible.

That is why we claim our right to the moon,
to the sun, to the limpid water,
to the verb that was made into Yanakuna blood,
to the threads of the rainbow
announcing life and death.

And we are here on this earth
but we are also from up there out of the earth
and of the subterranean which is our blood.
We are that colored animal
dispossessed of the original mother
and who is only left with the strength of his heart
to begin again at each moment.

BAJO TIERRA

BAJO TIERRA
