THE DOG-MEAT VENDOR

THE DOG-MEAT VENDOR

THE DOG-MEAT VENDOR

Salutations to the dog-meat vendor,
he skins and guts the ones put down by vets;
his cuts, half rotten, are sweet and tender.

He sets no store by breed or gender,
He traps no strays, he abducts no pets;
salutations to the dog-meat vendor.

Neither a borrower nor a lender,
not too worried about whom he upsets;
his cuts, half rotten, are sweet and tender.

The one at the helm, the great pretender,
has plunged his people into untold debts;
salutations to the dog-meat vendor.

No one places blame on this offender;
starving citizens must have no regrets.
his cuts, half rotten, are sweet and tender.

This villanelle has just one agenda:
appreciate what poverty begets.
His cuts, half rotten, are sweet and tender.
Salutations to the dog-meat vendor.
