HOW EVERY SUMMER MORNING

, how every summer morning the air was divided into patches:
dark patches, light patches,
semi-translucent mother-of-pearl patches,
patches in which the light like a pin, the sun like an edge,
patches in which the wind like water –

Out like a light.

Beside the water grows a village of cropped-up bulbs.
From the flow rises a dark, almost black sea of people.

HOE ELKE ZOMEROCHTEND

, hoe elke zomerochtend de lucht werd onderverdeeld in vakken:
donkere vakken, lichte vakken,
halfdoorschijnend paarlemoeren vakken,
vakken waarin het licht als een speld, de zon als een rand,
vakken waarin de wind als water –

Net uit, als een lichtje.

Naast het water groeit een dorp van opgekropte bollen.
Uit de stroom rijst een donkere, haast zwarte mensenzee.
