The Italian Riviera
Jumping off a cliff at Nervi Rocks
without a word

Hesitation burns my nerves
Up the stony way to the diving board

I stand staring at the turquoise
petrified as a pirate at the white plank

It echoes a call
walk the plank
to the ocean blue
yonder!

Vertigo says No!

You jumped off Eton Rock
Ten years ago 
ten meters downs
To the same blue

But i had company
someone to bounce off of

Ten rocky minutes
The fret is over
I lumber back to my deck chair

Under the parasol
A message arrives
From far away

We exchange a few
Until the heat builds
over the words

I pick myself up for a dip
And send the words
Off for a dive now. Goodbye

I know him for an aquaphobe
The words quench my nerve
Steal the pirate show
Dwarf my vertigo
I've said it now so I go
Loping up the rock
Over the diving board
And I fly
headlong
To a splash
