A Poem for Walking

If there were no hope who would walk for the sake of hope

If there were no hope who would ford a river for the sake of hope

If there were no hope who would barge into a burning house for the sake of hope

The shadow emerging from the woods

is possibly not a hope

but someone believes that it is

A shadow descending the mountain

is possibly not a hope

but someone believes that it is

A shadow carrying a bale on its head

is possibly not a hope

but someone believes that it is




The one who wanders in search of hope

sees hope in every shadow of the world
