HOMAGE TO LUIS VIDALES

On awakening, a thought, only a rhythm,
Without music, without hunger, without haste,
Without trivia or chance, just a rhythm,
Poetry and something more. Now Picasso,
Ensor, Miró and the Cid of Cromagnon,
The one who painted the cave of Altamira,
Govern your eternal day in my memory.

Seeing peace burst in all languages,
While war roars
Like an infernal and subterranean dog
Settled in your own geography,
Wounding with the irony of your song
The unburied satrap who silences
The morning chorus of the earth’s birds.

Dear old man, let’s look at the numbers
Of the statistics of poverty
With Charlot in dawn’s film.
Let’s listen to the music that flows
From the threads of the seamstress:
Her echo is a great lesson of joy
In the morning light of each day.

Here is the book, the hero, the cell,
The sunflower, the cup, the statistics,
The seamstress, a red flag
“And Luis Vidales
on the path to perspective” . . .

HOMENAJE A LUIS VIDALES

HOMENAJE A LUIS VIDALES

“Y Luis Vidales
                          Camino de la perspectiva” . . .
