EYES AND FINGERS

A child is
stooped over
picking flowers
with her fingers
storing away light and gifts.
A man is reading words
sitting
holding down the pages with his fingers
storing away flames and shadows.
Fingers connect
‘Reading and Picking’
Read, picked, and compiled
A child picking flowers. A man reading poems.

OGEN EN VINGERS

Kind bij het bloemen plukken.
Op zijn hurken,
bloemen verzamelend
in die vingers,
en licht en geschenken gaan in bewaring.
Volwassene bij het woorden lezen.
Neergezeten,
over bladzijden strijkend
met die vingers,
en vlammen en schaduwen gaan in bewaring.
Door vingers gebundeld,
‘het lezen / het plukken’.
Gelezen zullen worden, geplukt, verstrengeld.
Bloemen plukkend kind. Gedichten lezende volwassene.
