THE POET IS HE WHO HAS MORE TO DO WHEN WAKING UP

The poet is he who has more to do
when waking up:
to greet the day
to scare away the bitter birds
to clean the words
to water them and see
they do not lie

Do not blame his absent way of walking
his diligence in nothing
or that way of singing

El poeta es quien más tiene que hacer
al levantarse:
saludar el día
espantar los pájaros amargos
limpiar las palabras
regarlas y vigilar
que no mientan

No reproches su caminar ausente
su diligencia en nada
esa forma de cantar
