Meaning needs fiction.
It blooms with faith and longs for that
feebly biting little doggie,
with bits of pain that stimulate just enough.
The truth requires distrust and hankers after non-fiction.
A hysterically howling wolf, a self-devouring
bulldog. Growls furiously or barks enviously
at love.
Nothing to laugh about, says rage.

Betekenis heeft nood aan fictie.
Het bloeit van geloof en verlangt naar dat
flauw bijtende hondje,
met beetjes pijn die net genoeg prikkelen.
De waarheid vereist wantrouwen en hunkert naar non-fictie.
Een hysterisch jankende wolf, een zichzelf verscheurende
buldog. Grolt razend of blaft nijdig naar
de liefde.
Niets om mee te lachen, volgens de woede.
