Dear Mary,

Dear Mary,
young Bethlehem girl with torn
blue jeans, who read your comic books
in a corner among hemp dust and almond trees.
But your comic books are also
our life,
and you can’t do anything about it, you
can’t change the stories,
it must be like this,
holy Mary: you’re dying to
intervene, but you too
are damned to something:
our liberty, your pain.

Dear Mary,

Cara Maria,
ragazzetta di Betlem dai blu jeans
rotti, che ti leggi i tuoi fumetti
in disparte tra le polveri di canapa e i mandorli.
Ma i tuoi fumetti sono anche
la nostra vita,
e non puoi farci niente, tu
non puoi cambiare le storie,
dev’essere così,
santa Maria: tu bruci dalla voglia
di intervenire, ma anche tu
sei dannata a qualcosa:
la nostra libertà, il tuo dolore.
