Mehrdad Fallah

The Hitch

Ego was caught up in a hitch
kept grappling with it
going up
gone down

lost its head

didn’t want to stop

Does that mean there was no one on the other side of the alarm bells?

Ego was furious
kept shouting
screaming . . .
and fist following fist hitting the wall

Now that years have passed since this story
and I have forgotten what Ego
wanted to achieve
whenever I tell this mirror
he starts laughing

My god
When will this lift
ever stop?

The Hitch
