Anka Zagar

JEREMIAH, PUT YOUR TRUST

in the man, watch him drive
a cigarette into his gob
like hoar-frost like silk
like that heavy rhythm before the storm

I used to be a poet
a doctor and a priest
jeremiah, I was hurt by a comma
like every slightly deeper step

where has my voice gone
who am I now
for them to see me

but I am sure I will reach my destination
it is only that I do not now yet what
words will lead me there
being naked

JEREMIJO, POUZDAJ SE

JEREMIJO, POUZDAJ SE

u covjeka, gledaj kako vozi
cigaretu u gubicu
kao inje kao svilu
kao tezak ritam pred oluju

pjesnik sam bio
lijecnik i svecenik
jeremiijo, zarez zabolime
kao svaki malo dublji korak

kamo mi je glas istekao
tko sam sada ja
da me vide

ali tamo cu sigurno stici
samo jos ne znam kojim
rijecima
kad sam gol
