Poem

Yumlembam Ibomcha Singh

I’ve Been Kissed

Shadows of pupils
from the water
kissed me again and again.
I’m still crying today for the children.
They are completely innocent.
No one told you to bear them.
New leaves of the hard tree
how soft they are.
A nubile girl holds tight
the hard bark
of a leafy tree.
Birds of a golden colour
will surely come soaring.
The time is
dawn breaking.

I’ve Been Kissed

I’ve Been Kissed
