Portents

you are lucky you will be able to scream

when the whole world is trying to escape on a complex flying
machine to settle down in some other galaxy

you will jump back to Earth you will have no parachute but you
will remember that you could also fall straight into void

you will look at the others and maybe try to smile one last time and
yes your face will reflect your satisfaction at the fact that if nothing
else you at least have courage

on the other hand most of us will be unconcerned as if seeing
visions of some past accident – we have dwelt so long on portents
that we even have memories of the future
