The Grand Poetry Prize

June 13, 2019
The Grote Poëzieprijs — successor to the VSB Poëzieprijs (1994 -2018) — is Dutch-language poetry’s greatest honor, awarding, from 2019 onward, a €25,000 prize to the best Dutch-language poetry collection of the previous year. The first presentation will take place on 16 June at the 50th Poetry International Festival.
The Grote Poëzieprijs is an award from, and for, the entire field of Dutch poetry, striving to grow, with existing and new partners, into a platform that is as lively and versatile as Dutch poetry itself.

About the six nominees for De Grote Poëzieprijs 2019 the jury has written:

'We conclude that Dutch-language poetry is alive and well. First, it is diverse in form. From lyrical to bare-bones, from abstract to anecdotal, from committed to personal, from experimental to traditional, and everything in between. We see that there are many poems with an explicit or implicit political charge: apparently our time requires an answer from literature."

These are the six nominees:
Maria Barnas, Joost Decorte, Radna Fabias, Roelof ten Napel, Willem Jan Otten and Xavier Roelens
