Barcode van stilte

In Barcode van stilte, Hester Knibbe wants to get a grip on the foundations of our existence. She goes in search of the silence that you can experience on the margins of society, or precisely in its hectic pace. The silence that you involuntarily lapse into or in which you find language for your emotions. The silence that dwells in our days and years, and in our minds. The silence that connects dream and reality: ‘het vertrouwde/geruis – nooit zullen we weten/ hoe het klinkt als dat ophoudt.// Als het scheuren van tijd?’

Hester Knibbe

Hester Knibbe made her debut in 1982 with the collection Tussen tekenen en woorden. She subsequently published ten more collections. Her work has been awarded the Herman Gorter Prize, the Anna Blaman Prize and, in 2009, the Adriaan Roland Holst Prize. The presentation of the latter coincided almost exactly with the publication of Oogsteen. Een keuze uit de gedichten 1982-2008. In 2015, she received the VSB Poetry Prize for Archaïsch de dieren. Her new collection Binnen in de aarde is een berg was published in 2024.
