This Museumnacht, poetry and spoken word take center stage with a theme that cuts straight to the heart: The love I forgot to give. This isn’t about the love you see in movies or hear in love songs but it’s about something deeper, more personal: the love we give to ourselves.
On March 1st, during Museumnacht, Poetry International invites you to explore the beauty of self-love through the voices of 10 talented poets and spoken word artists. Their performances will reflect on reclaiming self-worth, embracing imperfections, and honoring the journey toward inner acceptance.
A celebration of overlooked love
In our daily lives, we often pour love into others (partners, friends, families, even strangers), leaving little room to care for ourselves. We forget to appreciate our bodies for carrying us through life. We fail to celebrate our quirks, forgive our flaws, and replenish our energy. But we are here to flip that script.
This open mic will create a space to reflect on what it truly means to practice self-love. Expect moments of raw vulnerability, electrifying performances, and stories that will tug at your heartstrings.
Want to take the stage?
If you’re a poet or spoken word artist with a story to share, this is your chance to grab the mic. The open mic theme, “The love I forgot to give” encourages performers to dive into their personal journey of self-love and growth.
To join the lineup, fill out the application form and submit your work in English. Submissions close on February 10th, and selected performers will be notified by February 13th.
Whether you’re stepping into the spotlight or coming to listen, we promise an evening of heartfelt connection and celebration. Bring a friend, grab a seat, and let’s rediscover the love we owe ourselves!
