BATTLE POETRY – workshop & performance

This workshop is all about sharpening your poetic style and learning how to use it during a poetry battle. During the workshop, we will explore how to use hard hitting wordplay, body language and voice dynamically and powerfully in a battle with words.  
By participating in the workshop, you will also be on stage during the festival's The Wholesome Poetry Battle program.  
After all, a poetry battle is not just about winning, but also about immersing yourself in poetic creativity and connecting with the audience.  
For this workshop, we ask you to come prepared: bring a self-written text that takes about two minutes to read out loud. 

Ivan Words  

Ivan Words is a free spirit with a sharp sense for language and creation. At Poetry Circle, he found his voice in spoken word, through which he translates concepts, dreams, and emotions into powerful texts and fresh perspectives. 

He is active in theatre, writes on commission, works as a voice-over artist, and leads workshops. Ivan has performed on the TEDx stage, acted in the play Tori, and written for brands like Samsung and Red Bull. Together with Tyler Koudijzer, he forms the spoken word collective Barguijs. 

His work is personal, thought-provoking, and sparks curiosity. For Ivan, writing is a necessity—a way to find peace, strength, and meaning. 

Sabina Lukovic 

Sabina Lukovic is a spoken word artist and knows better than anyone how to play the audience with her compelling lyrics. She is a sociologist and works in education. Through that, she is always looking for ways to share stories and experiences that can touch society.  

She has performed with Mensen Zeggen Dingen at festivals, such as Solar, Gentse Feesten and Lowlands. She always knows how to sketch situations in such a way that they get under your skin and giving you goosebumps. Her poetry touches on vulnerability, mental health and the strength to keep getting up. She finds it especially important to find connection with the audience.
