Beside his reading, Nasr will also engage in conversation with Xandra Schutte about his work, his inspirations, and his perspective on poetry today. Ramsey Nasr is a versatile Dutch poet, writer, actor, and director. He made his breakthrough as a poet with his debut collection 27 gedichten & geen lied (27 Poems & No Song, 2000) and gained wider recognition with works such as Onhandig bloesemend (Awkwardly Blossoming, 2004) and Mijn nieuwe vaderland (My New Fatherland, 2011). ...

Ramsey Nasr
Ramsey Nasr is a versatile Dutch poet, writer, actor, and director. He made his breakthrough as a poet with his debut collection 27 gedichten & geen lied (27 Poems & No Song, 2000) and gained wider recognition with works such as Onhandig bloesemend (Awkwardly Blossoming, 2004) and Mijn nieuwe vaderland (My New Fatherland, 2011). His poetry is known for its rich, multi-layered style, combining lyricism, engagement, and intertextuality.
In 2009, Nasr was appointed Poet Laureate of the Netherlands, a role in which he influenced public discourse through his sharp, socially engaged poetry. As an actor, he starred in the award-winning film The Promise of Pisa and played the lead role in the television series I.M.. He has also received acclaim for his performances on stage, with major roles at Het Nationale Theater and ITA. In his essay collection The Foundations (2021), he passionately advocates for the essential role of art and culture in a society increasingly driven by economic gain.
