Ruth Lasters
For Ruth Lasters (Belgium), writing is the most delightful version of brooding. And poetry is the place for free thinking exercises. She invents new words, omits words where you would expect them and wilfully bends language rules to her will. By distorting reality, she makes you look at it with crystal-clear eyes. Her language is clear, her tone (self) relativizing. She won the Herman de coninck Prize with her collection Lichtmeters, and won the Turing Poem Competition twice.
This is a program with Signe Gjessing. In this program, both poets read their entire festival selection with recent work.
