POETRY X GUIDING VOICES: Interview Ada Limón

Guiding Voices and Poetry International present an extended interview with American poet Ada Limón. This evening, in the great hall of LantarenVenster, she speaks with interviewer Shantie Singh about her work. Poet Laureate Babs Gons will give an introduction to Ada Limón and het work. 

A year ago, Ada Limón became the first Latina poet to be appointed Poet Laureate of the United States. Limón has a clear mission: to reclaim humanity through poetry. Limón's warm, insightful poems do just that. During the festival, Poetry International and Guiding Voices are joining forces to get to know this extraordinary poet. Interviewer Shantie Singh will have an hour to learn all about Limón's writing, her philosophy and what she believes poetry can do in connecting people to the world around them.

Interviewer Shantie Singh is a writer, playwright, columnist, storytelling fashionista and (gl)o(w)fficial). The common thread in all her pursuits is the power of stories, imagination and the impact of words. Themes such as identity, diversity, women's rights and emancipation are central to her work. It is her passion to improve the position of girls and women worldwide.

Guiding Voices is the successful series of in-depth interviews with mostly international authors, with writer Ernest van der Kwast as driving force and regular interviewer.
