10 WINGED HAIKUS

1. White handkerchiefs –
four seagulls say
goodbye to the sky.

2. To see the dawn
by the scale of the song
the lark ascends.

3. On the ground
the doves applaud
and fly away.

4. The swallow
lets fall on the water
its fine shadow.

5. Keels in the wind,
the pelicans set sail
in the old port.

6. In its cage,
the airless mockingbird
sings its sorrows.

7. The humming bird
from one jump to another
makes the whole garden iridiscent.

8. From snow and mother-of-pearl
through the intact blue
the heron flees.

9. In the wood
the nightingales
tune their flageolets.

10. The turtledove
comes to my window
from Umbria.

10 HAIKÚS ALADOS

10 HAIKÚS ALADOS

1. Blancos pañuelos,
cuatro gaviotas dicen
adiós al cielo.

2. A ver la aurora,
por la escala del canto
sube la alondra.

3. A ras del suelo,
las palomas aplauden
y alzan el vuelo.

4. La golondrina
deja caer al agua
su sombra fina.

5. Quillas al viento,
zarpan los alcatraces
del viejo puerto.

6. Desde su jaula,
el sinsonte sin aire
su pena canta.

7. El colibrí
de salto en salto irisa
todo el jardín.

8. De nieve y nácar,
por el azul intacto
huye la garza.

9. Dentro del bosque
Afinan sus dulzainas
los ruiseñores.

10. La tortolita
a mi ventana llega
desde la Umbría.
