The steamliner climbed to the fifth floor and cried:

            The moon did not reply
The steamliner climbed to the sixth floor and cried:

             The moon did not reply
The steamliner climbed to the ninth floor and cried:
                    toot! toot! toot!
              The moon did not reply
Steamliners do not sail from floor to floor
Steamliners sail the seas and the oceans
They go on seas and they cry
                 toot! toot! toot!
                   toot! toot! toot!
                   toot! toot! toot!
And the moon does not reply

De pakketboot ging naar de vijfde verdieping en riep:
toet! toet! toet!
De maan gaf geen antwoord
De pakketboot ging naar de zesde verdieping en riep:
toet! toet! toet!

De pakketboot ging naar de negende verdieping en riep:

De maan gaf geen antwoord
Pakketboten gaan niet van verdieping naar verdieping
Pakketboten gaan over zeeën en oceanen
Ze gaan over de zeeën en roepen

En de maan geeft ze geen antwoord

Le paquebot monta au cinquième étage et cria:

       La lune ne répondit pas

    La lune ne répondit pas
Les paquebots ne vont pas dans les étages
Les paquebots vont sur les mers et les océans
Ils vont sur les mers et crient

Et la lune ne leur répond pas
