French Poets Make Belated Translation Debut

January 18, 2006
In a recent posting on the Poetry Life poetry site, it was announced that substantial collections of the work of three French poets had recently been published in China by Beiyue Arts and Literature Publishing House (Beiyue wenyi chubanshe) in Taiyuan.
The poets represented are , René Char, Yves Bonnefoy and Paul Reverdy. Apparently, this is the first time that major collections by these three poets have appeared in Chinese. The translator, Shu Cai is described as a well-known poet active in local literary circles. Print runs for all three volumes are reportedly very small.
