Music - Djocelyn

Born in Rotterdam and brought up in a Cape Verdean musical family, Djocelyn Mendes maneuvers effortlessly through the various genres of the archipelago, from morna, coladeira to batuku and Funana. Initially, Mendes began as a background singer in gospel and reggae bands. Today, she feels the need to tell her own story. She recently participated in the Cape Verdean singing competition TMC international (Tudo mundo canta) and emerged victorious. With her raw velvet voice and energetic stage presence, she manages to grab the attention of the audience and enchant young and old alike. She is currently putting the finishing touches on her first EP.
