Maria do Rosário Pedreira

Maria do Rosário Pedreira (Lisbon 1959) is a Portugese poet. She studied literature and became a teacher afterwards at high school for five years.

During the main readings of festival poets, each poet will receive the undivided attention of the audience for the duration of the program. The poets have pre-picked a selection of poems, which they will read in its entirety during their main reading. After the reading, there will be time to ask the poets questions about their work that you've always wanted to know the answer to! 

 

Bio Maria do Rosário Pedreira

In 1987 Maria began working at a publishing house and has continued to do so, currently at one of the largest Portuguese book companies, Leya: she is co-responsible for fiction there. In the 1990s, she wrote a series of children's books entitled Clube das Chaves, which had twenty-one volumes, some of which were filmed for television. The same happened with a second, slightly smaller series (seventeen volumes), Detective Maravilhas, which she wrote between 1997 and 2007. In 1993 she published the autobiographical novel Alguns homens, duas mulheres e eu ("Some men, two women and I"). She has also written a large number of song lyrics, including for fado singer Ana Moura.
