The 2023 ambassador of Poetry International Festival is joining us this year as our special guest!

We are ecstatic to welcome Lui Montes!

Lui Montes (He/They) is a queer Mexican spoken word artist based in Rotterdam.

He is the founder of Unwanted Words, an award-winning platform for LGBTQ+ poets in The Netherlands and creator of the "Queer & Feminist Poetry Awards" Vol 1 (2020) & Vol 2 (2023). In 2021, he published the book "Queer & Feminist Poetry Anthology" compiling the works of 50 LGBTQ+ poets in the Netherlands.

Named Game Changer at the Rotterdam Street Culture Festival 2021, alumni of Poetry Circle 2019-2020 & Ambassador of the Poetry International Festival 2023, Lui is dedicated to fostering and amplifying the voices of marginalized groups and collaborating with other individuals and organisations to continue creating safe(r) spaces for our community.

His work has been featured in Opera Dagen Rotterdam, Milkshake Festival, Brainwash Festival, the Dublin Arts and Human Rights Festival, Rotterdam Pride, Tell 'Em Festival and more.
