What happened to the future?

In 2019 Poetry International celebrates its 50th festival edition. Since 1970 the biggest names in the international world of poetry have made their way to Rotterdam for the annual Poetry International Festival. Thousands of poets have read their poems in De Doelen and the City Theater, as well as on city squares and in bars, parks and trams. They shared hope and desire, joy and grieve, resistance and love with the Rotterdam audience. Pablo Neruda, Joseph Brodsky and Margaret Atwood shared the stage with Dutch poetry heroes. Worlds of language flourished into worlds of beauty and meaning.
