Milkman's morning and the pretty woman

Milkman's morning and the pretty woman

Milkman's morning and the pretty woman

Oh! Sleeping wife

Baobab and banana wife,
Maize porridge and okra child,
When snoring echoes sound
Metallic, musical, mundane.

Onto wet pot-holed tarmac
Pour shapes,
Shaped and shapeless silhouettes,
Cotton clothed, cool, curious.

Oh sleeping banana wife!

Encore,
A mere echo afterwards,
Of freeing limb lifters’ feet.

Encore to the unguarded milk trolley,
Musical and shapeful,
Into odd banana plantations!
