SILENCE

Ashen light slowly reveals the Moab slopes, the slopes of the body,
swift and crab prints rustle the ripples in the water.
The shore flows: shadow on shadow, limpid light converted in limpid air.

In the ashen light the sun’s egg is fertilized, queenly in the sea’s tube
the shore flows: shadow on shadow, limpid light converted in limpid air.
Splash. Trickle. Snails crawl on pebbles. This is all of man.

Contours of the sex signed in moist sand that dried, split open and got wet again.
The body expels its worn out stockpile. Palate and nipples pinched with longing,
Ashen light slowly reveals the Moab slopes, the slopes of the body.
