FAITHFUL

FAITHFUL

Robe startlingly white    belt royal blue
a sleek man walking tall and upright
crosses Bulawayo’s busy Sixth Avenue
biblical staff in hand    trailed by two wives
and a weaving band of children similarly clad

His grace and certainty mesmerise at first
but something is amiss with this divinity
of form    that seems too well rehearsed
this study of serene authority
that holds at bay an unravelling world.
