Nasser al-Ajami wins The Million’s Poet

Nasser al-Ajami from Kuwait is this year’s winner of reality TV show The Million’s Poet. Hissa Hilal, who recently made headlines for criticising religious extremism, won the third prize. In an interview she comments: “I’m trying to say maybe poetry can do what other things couldn’t do— to make people more close and to feel all over the world that we have to share and care and that to have a nice human relationship is the most important thing”. Falah al-Mowraqi, also from Kuwait, came second.
