Merel van Slobbe

Merel van Slobbe (1992) is a writer and journalist with a background in philosophy and psychology. Her poetry explores the intersections between technology, identity, and the human experience. In 2023, she debuted with De maan schijnt feller in de metaverse, which was nominated for both the Grote Poëzieprijs and the C. Buddingh’ Prize. She created the poetry film Glitch Glitch for the collection, which received a special mention at Go Short 2024. Her work has been published in Filosofie Magazine, VICE, and De Revisor. As a performer, she has previously appeared at Poetry International and Brainwash. In 2023-2024, she was a writer-in-residence at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht.
