Hester Knibbe

Hester Knibbe

Hester Knibbe (1946) is a poet who explores profound themes such as death, loss, and transience in her work. Her poetry is clear and personal, but never sentimental, and seeks the connection between opposites: the contemporary and the mythical, the tangible and the intangible. Since her debut Tussen getekend en woorden (1982), she has built up an impressive oeuvre, with several award-winning collections. For Knibbe, poetry is a way of listening - a process in which a collection must acquire its own expressiveness.
