Daniëlle Zawadi

Daniëlle Zawadi (1999), born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is a writer and spoken word artist. Her stories often focus on what it means to be young in the Netherlands as a second-generation individual. Zawadi addresses topics related to Gen Z culture and the development of friendships. Her work has appeared in De Digi-Gids, Awater, Hard//Hoofd, and de Poëziekrant. She performed her one-woman show Alstublieft, Zawadi at the Amsterdam Fringe Festival and is the founder of Het Zwart Schaap, a platform for poets from The Hague. In 2020, she won the Black Indigenous People of Color Voice Award at the Queer & Feminist Poetry Awards.
