Anna Enquist

Anna Enquist (1945) is a poet, novelist, and psychoanalyst with a keen ear for music and a deep insight into the human psyche. Her poetry, characterised by emotional intensity and a dark undertone, touches on themes such as motherhood, loss, and the healing power of art. Her literary career began late, with her poetry debut in 1991, but her work quickly found a wide audience. In addition to her poetry collections, she wrote successful novels such as Het meesterstuk and Contrapunt. In 2014, she was appointed city poet of Amsterdam.
