Biography
Elisa Díaz Castelo first collection, Principia (Tierra Adentro, Mexico), is the winner of the Alonso Vidal National Poetry Prize 2017. With the support of Fulbright and Goldwater scholarships, she completed an MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry) at New York University (2013-2015). She has been awarded the San Diego State University Poetry International Prize (2016), second place in the Literal Latté contest (2015) and was selected as a semifinalist of the Tupelo Quarterly Prize in 2016.
The bilingual writer's poems have been anthologized in Fuego de dos fraguas (Exmolino), Voces Nuevas 2017 (Torremozas) and Antología Liberoamérica (Liberoamérica, Spain). Her work in English has appeared in San Diego State University's Poetry International literary magazine, Tupelo Quarterly and Border Crossing, among others. Her poems in Spanish have been published in Revista de la Universidad, Tierra Adentro, Este País, Periódico de Poesía, and more. She is the recipient of the Jóvenes Creadores FONCA fellowship (2015-2016), the Fundación Para las Letras Mexicanas fellowship (2016-2017-2018) and is currently the recipient of another Jóvenes Creadores FONCA fellowship (2018-2019).
