Beau Zwart & Sykes - mini concert

It will be enjoyable at this smashing performance by Beau Zwart & Sykes. Live music and a DJ set provide a fine crossover between electronica and jazz. These two dyed-in-the-wool Rotterdam artists have played together with many, and tonight they will show how cool that is. 

Beau Zwart (1995) was introduced to music in his early Rotterdam youth. Surprised by the possibilities in the work of classical composers, he began writing his own compositions. In his teens he discovered jazz and electronic music and implemented these worlds in his compositions, as well as in performances, soundtracks and DJ sets. His current productions and performances sound like a combination of soulful electronica, broken beats, jazz and narrative music. The hybrid way of producing makes his tracks both organic and driven. In his performances, he connects genres with live looping and improvisation. He has played at festivals such as North Sea Jazz Festival, ADE, Grasnapolsky, ESNS, Pykes (Ibiza) and had residencies at BIRD, BAR, Operator Radio and Weelde.

Sykes is a producer, vocalist and DJ. As a child, he grew up with artists such as Donny Hathaway and India Arie. At age 6, his father took him on stage to play trumpet; at 14, he began keyboard lessons. Playing with other musicians prompted him to write and produce his own songs and playfully discover music production software. In his teens he discovered electronic music through artists such as James Blake, Bonobo and RJD2, which inspired him to create his own compositions. His current sound is a fusion of electronics with his own vocals.
